Company in the Pinellas Park/Largo area has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer.

The project engineer is responsible for monitoring and improving current projects and providing troubleshooting services. He/She works with staff in a variety of functions including, but not limited to, operations personnel, external and internal suppliers, new product development, quality, safety, and sales and marketing to:

'Lead and maintain assigned projects
'Prepare scope and estimate documents supporting capital and special projects of limited scale.
'Communicate project status on a regular basis to all involved parties.
'Identify and solve quality, production, and mechanical problems.
'Design, justify, implement and validate new equipment and processes.
'Maintain and assure accuracy of project documentation.
'Write or approve operating procedures and specifications.
'Monitor production unit operations with respect to cycle time, yield, process capability and safety.
'Assist in the set-up and validation of new products. He/She may also supervise and coach several technicians and production operators utilizing effective team building and performance feedback skills.

Requires:
The project engineer must have at least a Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry or physical science and 3-10 years experience in the optical industry, including a record of accomplishment in facilitating projects and leading teams.

The candidate must have a working knowledge of process improvement tools such as design of experiments and statistical process control.

The candidate must be well versed in the use of spreadsheet, word processing, and database manipulation software. Ability as well as an interest in troubleshooting, solving problems, and improving operations is required.

Knowledge of Six Sigma, Clean Room Technology, and Coatings strongly desired. Good communication skills and the ability to work with other people are a must.
