Prototype Machinist

Prototype Machinist   Our client is searching for a prototype manual machine experience. You must have all your own basic tools up to and including micrometers, scales etc.

 

This position will report to the Chief of Engineering.

 Job Description

Lay out, fits and assembles parts to make and repair cutting tools, jig fixtures gages. All prototyping will be on manual mill and lathe. Repair, trouble shoot and sharpening of stamping dies and punch press dies. You will study and interpret blueprints, dies, die models, templates and prototype parts. Tight tolerances as close as .0005?/0.012mm.

 

Also, computes dimensions, plans machining, layout, and assembly operations.

 Machine background

Setup and operates machine tolls such as lathe, milling machines, radial drill press, shaper and grinders to machine parts to all company specifications. You will verify conformance of machined pars to company specifications in S.A.E. or Metric.

Verify dimensions, clearances to Q.A. standards, dismantle die and repair or replaces all parts to Q.A. standards.

 Education / Experience

Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or four to six years? related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as a machinist or toolmaker.

 

Mathematical skills

You must have mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Your ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
