Purchasing and Supply Chain Analyst

HelioVolt Corporation is an exciting and promising next-generation solar power company founded by a world-renowned University of Texas alumnus, Dr. BJ Stanbery.Dr. Stanbery has developed and patented a new technology for manufacturing thin film photovoltaics -- one that will replace the costly crystalline silicon used in 90% of the solar power modules sold today. (See www.HelioVolt.com for more information.)  Our current positing is for the position of Purchasing and Supply Chain Analyst.

 

Overview

Assesses overall manufacturing supply chain operations, including purchasing and inventory of materials as well as selection of vendors. Makes recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations. Coordinates and resolves issues regarding existing and new products. Interacts with internal customers to ensure that all requirements are being met. A wide degree of creativity and latitude will ensure the Purchasing and Supply Chain Analyst applies the best possible practices to HelioVolt?s manufacturing operations.

 

Basic Accountabilities

Responsible for the procurement of inventory, supplies and capital goods.

Purchases general and specialized equipment, materials, or services.

Receives requisitions, and checks each item for quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements.

Keeps records of all materials acquisitions to ensure that purchases remain within budget and on schedule.

Serves as liaison to vendors and suppliers.

Develops and investigates supply sources, issues request for quotations, proposals or bids for those items not covered by any existing purchasing arrangement.

Evaluates vendor cost and quality of goods and supplies.

May process claims against vendors and suppliers.

Issues requests for quotations, proposals or bids for those items not covered by any existing purchasing arrangement.

Determines inventory and re-order levels.

Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Tracks, analyzes, and reports on product and process costs; develops and maintains product and process cost models.

 

Education and Work Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, or Economics.

A minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience in a purchasing department.

Current on the latest supply chain best practices.

Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures---and able to apply these in the most efficient and effective manner.

Must be able to rapidly gain a broad understanding of HelioVolt?s organization, interdependencies, demand planning and build logic methodology.

Strong analytical skills and expertise in setting up and using advanced spreadsheets and PC databases.

Certification in A.P.I.C.S. a plus.

Ability to communicate with internal and external customers as well as multiple sites and locations.

Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.

Strong organization skills with attention to detail and follow up.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
