QC Scientist II

We currently have an opening in our Vaccines QC - Tech Support Department for a(n) QC Scientist II, at our Pearl River, NY facility (located on the Rockland County, NY/Bergen County, NJ border).

As QC Scientist II, you will be required to develop, improve, trouble-shoot, validate and transfer immunochemical and biochemical assays for release and stability testing of vaccine intermediate, in-process, and final fills in compliance with USP, FDA and other regulatory body requirements, Wyeth standard operating procedures, and approved license requirements. You will perform mathematical calculations, interpret results, record observations and may utilize Laboratory Information Management Systems. You will be accountable for the accuracy and validity of testing results. You will compare results with specifications and document. You will have mastered most or all of fundamental technical and quality concepts. Additional responsibilities include prepare protocols and reports, conducting laboratory investigations, equipment validations, reagent/standards/control qualifications. Prepare, revise and review SOPs/STMs as needed. Assure proper filing and approval of Change Controls. Purchases reagents and supplies and keep the laboratory orderly. Perform daily, weekly and monthly equipment /instrument maintenance and monitoring. You may provide guidance and training to more junior staff members. You will develop problem-solving skills. As needed you may be required to perform chemical, in-vitro, or in-vivo biological assays of clinical and/or commercial product raw materials, production intermediate and bulk samples, finished product, process & cleaning validation samples, package samples and components as well as some specialized techniques.

You must have a BS in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biochemistry with 4 plus years of relevant Quality experience preferably in the bio/pharmaceutical industry or an MS plus 2 years of relevant Quality experience.
