Quality Control Champion

Job DutiesResponsible for performing testing on raw materials, and finished products per APG Quality manual & Regional Quality DirectorRecord keeping of all testing and pertinent informationMonitor, analyze, and update the current plant quality checksAssure compliance with the Oldcastle APG Quality ManualEstablish and chair quality committee to increase awareness of quality program including all facets of the businessDevelop on-going quality training programs for all personnel including production, sales and shipping activities to reduce manufactured junk rate, inventory shrinkage, and eliminate quality related issuesMake recommendations for improved efficiency, effectiveness of operations and elimination of wasteful practicesInteract with sales force and customers thru project visitsParticipate in preventive maintenance using the MP2 Maintenance software program

 

Physical FunctionsThe position involves movement of twisting, bending, and reaching of upper and lower body.There are times when the individual may be required to lift items up to 50 pounds by himself or to assist another individual when the material is in excess of 50 pounds. The position requires steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and an OHSA approved safety helmet to be worn at all times when inside the plant or on the yard. 

 

Knowledge/SkillsBachelor?s degree in concrete manufacturing or a related field is preferred, but not required.  Strong computer skills are required.  Technical training in the field of concrete or raw materials is beneficial.  Training will be offered thru certification classes and advanced concrete masonry classes.Mental Functions

Mental endurance is required as some internal stress is created resulting from accelerated pace activities that are required in order to meet the schedule.

 Working Environment

The working environment is subject to significant temperature variations depending on the season of the year.  Dust, pollen and other typical airborne particulate matter are also present within the atmosphere of the working area.

 Safety

Safety is a primary concern in our operation.  It is important and required that everyone entering the work area follow the rules and regulations defined in the plant safety rules.  The required safety equipment will be issued based on the job performed.
