Operations Manager ? Refractory Systems

 

The Refractory Systems operations produce engineered cast refractory shapes and systems for aluminum, powdered metals, and the steel industries.  The responsibility includes managing two sites. Reporting to Director of Operations. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

1) Profitable operations of Refractory Systems while meeting and exceeding customer expectations for quality, delivery, and value.  Support achievement of Sales Objectives.  Understand drivers of operations profitability and take action to improve plant profits. 

 

2) Achieve world-class operations performance in throughput, lead-time, quality, and cost.  Manage the operations to achieve and exceed operational metrics.

 

3) Lead the Refractory Systems operations functions so that they perform well as a team and with other Pyrotek organizations.  Achieve functional integration and cooperation.  Major functions include Engineering, Production (mold-making, casting, fabrication, and assembly), Purchasing and Warehouse, Quality and Safety, Inside Sales, Plant HR/Administration.  Share resources and best practices between the two sites.

 

4)  Continuous Improvement of the applications of the ERP system from estimating to engineering masters to work orders/purchase orders to work flow scheduling to shipping.  .  Analyze actual costs versus estimated costs to identify and solve manufacturing profitability problems and improve estimating accuracy.

 

5) Help achieve refractory systems revenue growth objectives by working with the USA field sales force and international Pyrotek sales organization.  Provide design engineering expertise to refractory technical sales and field sales force.  Utilize installation services manager to supervise refractory system installations.

 

6) Develop people and internal processes to meet and exceed customer expectations in quality, on-time delivery, value (cost competitiveness), product customization, and responsive service.  Implement Lean Enterprise. 

 

7)  Transfer large shape engineering and manufacturing capability to help create other global centers for large shape casting. 

 

 

Education : BS in Engineering or Equivalent plus 15 years of Industrial Experience.
