SENIOR MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will lead new manufacturing technology projects, champion Best Methods teams and standardization processes. It will also provide support to all areas of the NAOERC SBU (Engineering - advanced, program, or development; Manufacturing; Commercial; Quality; etc.) where manufacturing technology expertise is required, including launch support and customer initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSManage new process development projects and coordinate activities with various internal & external customersDevelop manufacturing process designs and coordinate with tooling and equipment sources for construction & validationLead a functional Best Methods team and support othersDrive standardization throughout Tenneco by use of Best Methods teams, benchmarking, process standards and equipment checklistsUtilize GD&T to review assembly, component designs and details to verify manufacturing feasibilityNew product launch team membership on major program launchesCapacity planning and strategy development for core processesCreate / participate in development of design and process FMEA?sWork with Model Shop / tool sources to verify tool and / or part construction (Verify and establish operational boundary conditions)Assist with capital and tooling acquisitions, analysis and strategiesAssist manufacturing facilities in design and applications of gages and fixturesEstablish and maintain integrated working relationship with Tenneco, EuropeInterface with suppliers and research development centers to research and develop new product and process design and technology conceptsAnticipate and analyze customers? needs for new technologies and formulate a recommendation for their design and developmentSupport manufacturing with launch and continuous improvement activitiesSupport customer teams with quotes, designs, VA/VE initiatives and technical presentationsChampion benchmarking initiatives and integrate their findings into appropriate areas of TennecoProvide technical support and assistance to the manufacturing, quality, development, and program staff, as requiredPrepare and present technical reports in-house and to the technical communityAttend training sessions, seminars, and conferences to expand job knowledge and skills repertoireSupport and adhere to Tenneco EH&S policies and proceduresSupport TS 16949, NPIS, APQP and other applicable procedures and policies





MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBSME plus 7 years experience; or Advanced degree with 5 years experienceExtensive experience in tool and manufacturing process development with knowledge of CAD or FEA and functional expertise in application of GD&TProcess/application knowledge of processes currently utilized in manufacturing is required. (i.e. welding, stamping, tubing, machining, assembly)Program/project management experience, leadership role preferredSelf-motivated with good written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentationsWorking knowledge and application of Tenneco tools (BOS, 8D, Lean, Six Sigma, EVA, TVM)Ability to obtain certification in Lean for Manufacturing, Lean Product Development and Six Sigma Green BeltAbility to lead and function in a team environment, while effectively communicating across various levels of the organizationAbility to travel in support of job function (plants, customers, suppliers etc.) Some overseas travel may be required
