SR QUALITY ENGINEER

This position exists to develop, implement, maintain, maximize and continuously improve the Shiloh manufacturing  capability of Industrial and Aerospace Bearing Manufacturing with conformance to ISO9000:2000 and AS9100 quality systems.  Understanding and implementing additional requirements including NADCAP, NDT, Supplier quality management, frozen processes, and operator certification programs as customer specific requirements will be a key focus area.  This position will also address system maintenance of the quality system to ensure continual compliance to the applicable quality systems and/or regulatory requirements, adherence to customer/engineering specifications, and resolution of customer, internal and supplier quality issues.  Close interaction with Quality Measurement Engineer is vital to ensure that required measurement systems are in place to effectively manufacture product. This position is part of the plant quality team, and provides support to all operations encompassing the assigned manufacturing area regarding product manufacturing including support services

 1.  Maintain both AS9100 and ISO9001:2000 quality systems as required within manufacturing area assigned.2.  Participate in customer and third party audits of the Shiloh Plant quality system.3.  Assist in the development and training of associates in quality system procedures and work instructions.4.  Develop and maintain an interpretative understanding of the QMS (ISO and AS) series of quality system standards to develop local experts on the QMS systems throughout the assigned flow path(s) 5.  Develop and maintain open communications to effectively resolve issues related to the quality system.  This includes not only with local operations and associates, but also other Timken locations, business units, customers and suppliers.6.  Take a lead role in investigation, follow up and timely response to product quality issues, manufacturing issues, and information requests as related to customer inquiries, concerns and/or complaints. 7.  Take an active role in the development and implementation of new products that will conform to AS9100, ISO9001:2000, NADCAP, and customer specific requirements.  8.  Take an active role in Internal Failure reduction, rework reduction, flow path problem solving, and customer satisfaction improvement efforts.9.  Participate on appropriate cross-functional continuous improvement teams, as required to meet plant business plan objectives.10. A decision maker for AS, ISO, and NADCAP issue resolution11. Manages Quality Analysts and Quality Technicians12. Backup to Plant Quality Manager.




BS in a business or technical discipline  - 3 years minimum manufacturing experience.


Practical experience with AS/ISO - 3 years minimum


 


Minimum 3 years experience in a plant environment, with fundamental knowledge of AS9100, ISO9001:2000, and Aerospace requirements.  Manufacturing, design and application knowledge preferred.  Working knowledge of engineering databases, gauging and inspection methods, intranet, internet, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on advanced spreadsheet applications.  Certified Quality Auditor desired. Good interactive, time management and communications skills.  Demonstrated and successful team leadership abilities.  Strong systemic thinking is required along with strong written and strong verbal skills.  L6S skills/experience would be a plus.
