Safety and Environmental Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Safety and Environmental Coordinator is responsible for leading, motivating, influencing, and working as a key management team member to achieve World Class Safety Performance. Communications skills in both English and Spanish are preferred. Knowledge of regulatory standards in occupational safety and health and environmental areas is required. The preferred candidate should have a minimum of 2 years experience in managing the safety programs and processes in a progressive manufacturing environment, preferably in the heavy industrial field.

 

Creating and maintaining a safe work environment and achieving zero injuries is the top priority in this position.

 

Reports to:  General Manager

FLSA Status:  Exempt

Supervises:  All health, safety, and environmental activities and employee safe work practices.

Normal work days:  Monday ? Friday

Normal work hours:  7:00 a.m. ? 5:00 p.m.

Typical hours worked per week:  50 ? 60

Travel required:  Minimal, but some required for Oldcastle meetings or training with an accredited safety organization.

 

Position requirements

Education/Certification:  BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field. OHSA, NSC, or ASSE certifications are a plus.  Professional certification, ASP, CSP preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:  Must be familiar with OSHA and federal and state regulations pertaining to safety, health, and environmental issues. Specific knowledge in Hazcom, BBP, respirator safety, LO/TO and confined space entry is a plus. Computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, Word, and Power Point a definite plus.

General:  Effective communications, listening, and problem solving skills. Willingness and ability to work with regulatory agencies, loss prevention providers, location employees, and local and division management teams to achieve world class performance.
