Senior AS400 Programmer/ Analyst
World-class manufacturing firm in the Concord, North Carolina area Senior AS400 Programmer/Analyst to become a part of a dynamic programming team. This person will be a work with a team on full life cycle development projects in an AS400 environment. This includes project management as well as systems and procedure analysis and development.
Responsibilities include:
Keep up to date with current manufacturing technologies
Analyze, and make recommendations for increasing efficiency in the existing system design
Perform technical tasks including analysis, design, programming, and testing related to the implementation, maintenance, modification, and tuning of batch and interactive applications on the AS400 platform
Performs application development functions with IBM supplied utilities such as SEU, SDA, Query/400 and third-party utilities including DBU and Hawkeye Pathfinder
Evaluate, document, and determine next steps for, business user change requests
Prepare documentation to established standards using MS Office Suite and Visio
Work with business users to understand and help resolve issues
Develop software test plans and procedures and execute them with documented results, making sure that all software development work is thoroughly tested before releasing it to the user community
Implement new hardware and software solutions
Support hardware and software systems when issues are escalated from the helpdesk
Train business users on the use of the system, core and custom applications, as well as any new or changed functionality in the system
Provide rotating 24/7 production support as part of a functional team
Requirements:
Expertise with BPCS.
Experience with programming for barcode printers and scanners.
Familiarity with change management software such as Aldon CMS, Implementor, or Turnover
Recent and relevant experience in developing and maintaining both batch and interactive business applications on the AS400 platform in RPG IV/RPGLE and CL
Experience with systems integration, SQL, DB2 database concepts, AS400 systems and security.Desirable Skills:
Familiarity with PC to AS/400 communications.
Understanding of basic networking and communications concepts.
Experience with web based (HTTP) application programming.
Some fluency in either French or Spanish as a second language
Some travel required
