Senior Industrial Designer

Job Description: This role requires proven skills in end user research, ideation, concept refinement, CAID using SolidWorks and Photoshop. Requirements include .

Responsible for providing product designs for the Coloring and Craft SBU. Products lines include the Foohy brand, which encompass writing instruments and school supplies for tweens, as well as fine art products sold under the Prismacolor and Grumbacher brands. The fine art products include markers, pencils, paints and other fine art supplies. Will be expected to take program objectives defined by the Brand Manager and create product concepts using methods including: sketching, electronic rendering, physical prototypes and 3D product design. Will also work closely with the Brand Managers, Program Managers, and Development Engineers to enable consumer feedback to be incorporated into product designs. Will participate in all aspects of consumer research to insure that the voice of the consumer is incorporated in the product designs. Designs will be provided to internal engineers, outside engineering firms or suppliers for final engineering. Will work with US and Asian manufacturing companies. Travel to Asia or other overseas countries may be required.

Job Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in industrial design
* 7 years experience
* Ability to design products with a higher level of difficulty, complexity, or scope Successful track record of developing innovative products that improve the experience of the end user and the sales of the business

Proficient in concept sketches using pencils, markers or equivalent

Proficient in Alias or comparable rendering packages

Proficient in a 3D solid modeling tool such as Rhino, Solidworks or Pro-Engineer

Knowledgeable in principles of design for injection molding, extrusion, and metal forming

Familiarity with writing systems is preferred, but not required
