SENIOR MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Continental Electronics Corporation has established itself as a world leader in the design, development and production of high power radio frequency transmitters for communications radio broadcast, radar and scientific research applications.

 

Continental Electronics Corporation currently has an opening for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. This position will plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes in an electronics manufacturing environment by performing the following duties.

 

1.  Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods. Identifies and recommends resolution of manufacturing problems, enabling production schedules to be met.

2.  Analyzes, specifies, designs, and modifies production & test equipment, and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

3.  Participates in coordinating the transfer of new products from Engineering to Manufacturing.

4.  Applies ?Lean Manufacturing? ?Value Stream Mapping? techniques to insure the elimination of wastes impacting product cost, cycle time and on-time delivery.

5.  Develops implementation plans for Engineering Change Orders.

6.  Identifies and recommends changes to wiring list(s) to improve efficiency. Troubleshoots wiring/process problems on the production floor. 

7.  Conducts pilot and preliminary production runs to verify documentation and production procedures, establish schedules, and resolve problems.

8.  Participates in developing cost estimates for assigned products.

9.  Modifies existing products for new applications. Recommends changes to the manufacturing process or product design as required to maximize the manufacturability of the product.

10. Initiates and maintains test procedures for the purpose of keeping discrepancies at the lowest level within the manufacturing process.

11. Provides work direction and training to production personnel on new products and processes as required.

12. Develops a thorough understanding of appropriate technology and products. Provides manufacturing expertise to R&D Engineering; recommends materials and processes for use in new products.

13. Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

14. Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

15. Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

16. Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.

17. Performs other related duties as assigned.



 

Education and/or Experience      

 

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering from a four-year college or university plus five (5) years experience in an electronics manufacturing environment; or eight (8) years related manufacturing engineering experience in an electronics manufacturing environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in electronics manufacturing environment. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contract Management systems; Database software; Development software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems and Spreadsheet software.  Must have demonstrated supervisory ability. Strong people skills and ability to work in a team environment, including working well with all levels of management; Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
