Title: Shipper / Receiver

 

General Purpose of Job:  The primary purpose of this job is to facilitate domestic and international shipments to and from our facility.  There is a focus on maintaining an accurate inventory system.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Receipt of all incoming shipments into our inventory system.

Delivery of received materials to proper desk or stock location.

Receipt of all outgoing shipments into our inventory system.

Placing product on correct ship shelf based on ship date / customer.

Packaging and shipment of all outgoing orders according to customers? requirements.

Completion of all necessary paperwork, including international documentation.

Scheduling of outside transportation firms for delivery / receipts.

Ordering of supplies for the Shipping dept.

Researching any shipping related questions.

Product identification by sight of all pitches, nylon, backing, etc. for belt verification.

Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area.

  Special projects, as necessary.

  Verification that all completed orders ship each day.

 

Education / Experience:

One to two years of international shipping / receiving experience. Forklift experience necessary.

 

Computer Skills:

Basic computer skills necessary.  Must be familiar with Word, Excel, Crystal and Outlook.  Preference given for experience with Max or Axapta computer systems.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for supervising shipping clerks.

 

Additional information:

This job is evenly split between hard physical labor and data entry.  It will require the utmost attention to detail, as accuracy is paramount.  There will be a focus on cleanliness and organization of the work area.  The ability to be flexible is important, as it may sometimes be necessary to fill in for other positions to cover absences.  While Gates Mectrol makes every effort to limit overtime, this position will require an employee to remain past scheduled departure time if necessary.
