Job Title: Sr. Manager, Operations

 

Reports To: Vice President and General Manager



 



Summary Responsible for the successful management of all manufacturing processes in a high-volume/quality, close tolerance, production environment.  Accountable for shaping the operations vision and driving change, leading to world class performance.  Specific areas of focus include plant productivity maximization, cost containment, internal and external quality & metrics, and cycle-time improvement.  Essential in this role will be the acquisition and development of key talent and continued improvement of a safe working environment for all employees.  Processes include forging, machining, metal fabrication, heat treat, and wet processes.  Report to the Vice President and General Manager. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Leads $100M+ defense/aerospace manufacturing operation.

 

Supervises approximately 450 employees in production, manufacturing engineering, purchasing, production and inventory control, tool room, maintenance, and facilities.

 

Provides direction and leadership to the factory for safety, compliance, quality, cycle ?time, cost, productivity, and employee relations.

 

Develops and establishes manufacturing strategies and priorities to achieve operational business objectives.

 

Promotes continuous improvement through a team environment.

 

Manage crew/manpower planning, budgetary planning and controls, staff development and performance management.

 

Initiates and maintains aggressive and class-leading productivity improvement, planning, and implementation programs.

 

Qualifications

BS Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or similar. MBA preferred.  Minimum 15 years working in an assembly, fabrication, and/or automated production line; 10 years in a management capacity.  Plant Manager experience with P&L responsibility preferred.

 

Demonstrated leadership in project implementation, integrative thinking skills, and with continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Ability to develop a long-term manufacturing operational strategy, in addition to supervising tactical day-to-day activities.

 

Must excel in a team environment.

 

Assertive, detailed individual with strong follow-up; proactive with excellent people management capabilities.

 

Has strong sense of urgency to improve performance.

 

Must enjoy both the technical aspects of product manufacturing, as well as the interaction with program management, marketing management, and the customer.

 

Working knowledge Lean Manufacturing; Six Sigma preferred.
