Sr. Process Engineer/R&D Scientist

Day to Day Responsibilities:
1. Lead proof of concept/feasibility work for new manufacturing processes or significant capability improvement of existing manufacturing processes
2. Investigate manufacturing process alternatives and down select based on the technical fundamentals, performance and manf?g cost criteria
3. Solve problems and demonstrate feasibility using theoretical, empirical and modeling approaches
4. Design and implement experiments; analyze process data using statistical tools
5. Measure and communicate progress against established objectives.
6. Generate IP and document work as appropriate
7. Define and implement sample making processes; act as coordinator/lead of the effort
8. Support efforts for early stage cost modeling

Projects involved with:
1. Using first principle knowledge to design and test the feasibility of manufacturing processes for new businesses or enable a new material
2. Processes that improve capital efficiency
3. Projects could support any Corning division or new business
4. All work will be done as part of a cross functional team involving other groups in Research, MTE or Development.REQUIREMENTSRequired Skills

7. Able to apply the principles of process control and discipline to early stage projects

1. Knowledge of Modeling capability and how to leverage modeling tools
2. Ability to do external technology investigations
3. Some mechanical aptitude/equipment understanding
4. Ability for situation assessment and strong problem definition
5. Project leadership
