Supplier Cost Savings Engineer
The Commercial Vehicle Group is a recognized world leader in commercial vehicle solutions for the construction, agricultural, industrial, commercial, municipal, and marine industries.
We are currently recruiting for a CONTRACT Supplier Cost Savings Engineer at our facility in Dublin, OH. This person will assist in supplier development initiative by facilitating supplier cost savings suggestions and achieving identified CVG/Divisional VA-VE cost savings goals & objectives.
Position specific responsibilities: Support CVG Director of Purchasing Engineering and CVG Commodity Managers in effort to develop DRIVE (Delivering Results to Increase Value for Everyone) ProgramIntroduce, promote & champion DRIVE--supplier cost savings suggestion systemEffectively communicate program goals, objectives and supplier expectationsTravel to CVG Division locations and supplier facilities to understand complete supply chain and identify cost savings opportunitiesSolicit and develop potential cost savings suggestionsWork with suppliers to refine and frame cost savings ideas to minimize non-valued added core engineering time/work requirement Work with identified resources to assess and prioritize supplier suggestionsTrack and maintain suggestions status report summaryCoordinate material trials and tests; establish/meet project timelineCoordinate implementations; realize/verify savingsRecommend CVG/supplier savings ?sharing? benefit/creditPerform additional duties as requested
Candidate requirements include:Minimum of five years experience in project/manufacturing engineering; 5 years experience in purchasing or manufacturing operations or equivalentWorking knowledge of engineering, lean manufacturing, program/project management industry principlesSolid/sound working knowledge of practical engineering and continuous improvement/lean manufacturing principlesBasic design/CAD capabilitiesAnalytical (make vs. buy) skillsDetail orientedEffective(written & oral) communicationsAbility to identify cost savings opportunitiesTeam player attitude/aptitudeSelf starter/highly motivated Must be physically capable of traveling up to 60% of the time
