Vice President, Manufacturing

Fedders Corporation provides air conditioning and other air treatment products for commercial and residential applications to markets worldwide.  Product lines include residential central air conditioning systems, including condensing units, air handlers, gas furnaces, air cleaners, and humidifiers, as well as rooftop, vertical and horizontal packaged air conditioners and heat pumps for commercial, residential and telecommunications applications and also, appliance air treatment products.

 

An opening currently exists for a Vice President, Manufacturing for the Commercial Industrial division, to be located in Liberty Corner, NJ.  Reporting into the President, Fedders Corporation, the candidate we seek will be responsible for effectively planning, directing and coordinating all production departments of assigned FCI division operating locations.  Responsibilities include all manufacturing, planning and logistics activities for the division, including process improvements and implementation of best practices.

 

Specific responsibilites include: leading impentation of "lean" continuous improvement initiative in all locations to drive productivity improvement, inventory reduction, lead-time reduction, improved quality and on-time shipments; leading Asset Management program in areas of responsibility; directing the efforts of the workforce to achieve minimum down time and maximum efficiency; assisting in the development of the master production schedule and is responsible for implementation; resolving unsettled worker grievances; promoting loyalty and cooperation from the workforce and insure good employee relations; minimizing employee turnover, labor exits and absenteeism, directing the maintenance of tardiness and absenteeism and taking corrective action as required; insuring safety hazards are corrected immediately; responsible for having available the facilities, proper tooling, standards and the methods required producing scheduled production; verifying shipping lead-time to production schedule; reviewing production schedule changes with  Materials/Production Managerzs and when applicable Customer Service; monitoring material scrap and implementing corrective actions; monitoring production performance and reporting on variances to standard; directing, advising, and otherwide expediting manufacturing and relating problems by utilizing staff services to resolve and implement corrective action; coordinating and directing major projects, installation of capital equipment, major repairs and overhauls, to the best economic advantage; directing and coordinating manufacturing engineering on various programs essential to manufacturing procedures such as work simplification, cost reduction and process improvement; directing and coordinating capital planning goals or objectives for m anufacturing engineering and special projects as required.

 

The candidate we seek will have a BS degree with 10 years of HVAC manufacturing experience or 15 years experience in plant operations and HVAC equipment manufacturing.  Lean manufacturing training and the ability to analyze, communicate and resolve problems is also required.  The ability to travel as needed to CI facilities is a must.
