Waste Water Treatment Operator

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for receiving chemical shipments, their handling and storage. Maintains standards of quality effluent as prescribed by LACSD.  Operates hydroxide precipitation system. Controls pH and copper content as required by Sanitation District permit. Properly labels waste as required by OSHA and EPA. Performs routine maintenance tasks as required to assure proper working condition of waste treatment system. Keeps accurate records of daily activities and effluent quality. Maintains SPC chart. Strictly follows safety regulations, policies and procedures. Maintains a safe and clean work area.

 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

 

Working knowledge of waste treatment operations, processes, equipment, machinery and terminology. Familiar with regulations relating to waste treatment. Plumbing and pump repair skills. Able to lift 25 pounds and work in hazardous chemical, fumes and odors environment. Good communication skills as well as reading and writing abilities. Flexible, organized and able to prioritize work. Ability to follow instructions and interface with co‑workers and supervisors.

 

Education and Experience

 

High school education or equivalent and a minimum of one year related experience.
