Our manufacturing organization is comprised of 850 individuals working in the areas of Manufacturing Client Services, Prepress and Digital Print, Press, Bindery, Engineering, Distribution, and Supply Chain Management. Our facility is approximately 1.2 million square feet and generates about $700 million dollars in print revenue annually.
SUMMARY
Directs and assists a crew in the make ready and operation of the press to print products according to written specifications by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Reviews job specification requirements to organize, delegate and assist make ready of materials and various components of the press.Coordinates and assists in the operation of all press components.Uses the quality measurement tools available to monitor the printing process.Uses the safety procedures and tools available while performing tasks.Inspects and replaces consumable parts to achieve quality and minimize downtime or inefficient production.Maximizes press speeds and makereadies while maintaining quality by inspecting finished product to assure that it is commercially acceptable to end user and finishing needs.Uses the information systems available in the department such as but not limited to burnsheet, loadlist, specifications, and material systems to retrieve or provide information.Accurately documents the activities occurring at press. This includes but is not limited to data collection, material usage, and proper identification of finished product.Follows the job schedule and communicates information such as problems or job priorities at shift change.Trains crew members.Recommends improvements to the training manuals to increase press personnel's knowledge of the equipment and printing processes.Evaluates mechanical condition of press components and assists in fixing and/or recommending solutions.Inspects, lubricates, cleans, and repairs mechanical aspects of press as detected and in accordance with lists provided and time permitted.Communicates among and between crews, supervision, customers, suppliers, and maintenance staff on such topics as safety, schedules, equipment, materials, and quality.Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent3-5 years working in a print manufacturing work environmentStrong math skills (ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and use fractions) Ability to measure accurately Basic PC skills Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks with little supervision Strong communication and decision making skills Ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basisGood attention to detail
