Welding Department Supervisor

Responsible for the effective direction of the Welding Department, involving full accountability for results in terms of costs, methods, quality and quantity of production, operations and personnel by performing the following duties.  Plan and layout work for department based on productions schedules and customer shipment dates.  Set standards of performance, check progress and regulate the inner departmental flow of work.  Facilitate the continuous improvement of existing welding processes or equipment and make recommendations that would have a material impact on efficiencies and quality.  Enforces welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post-heating requirements.  Directs and coordinates personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification.  Acts as liaison between company and outside welding inspectors/auditors.
