Configuration Management Specialist

Responsibilities:Prepares engineering change proposals (ECP?s) for the installation/de-installation, upgrade or modification of facilities and systems supported by this contract. Ensures that all documentation is accomplished in accordance with the applicable guidelines. Conducts physical and functional configuration audits to ensure that the facilities, mission systems and support systems and changes to them are properly documented.
Reviews and comments upon ECPs are prepared by other organizations performing installations in INSCOM facilities. Coordinates with installation team leaders to ensure that the necessary technical documentation is supplied to the team to properly interface with existing structures and systems. Ensures that the resulting changes are annotated on the existing drawings and that the changes are incorporated. Develops configuration baselines/identification controls for status accounting of ECP?s and documentation.
Manages the processing, utilization and integration of engineering change proposals and associated technical documentation. Tracks ECP status using databases in accordance with the INSCOM tailored requirements of MIL-STD-2549.
Supports U. S. Army systems on site whenever and wherever deployed. Available to deploy to other countries and/or theaters to support U.S. Forces during worldwide military contingency missions and requirements.
Requirements:Ten (10) years work experience in the discipline of Configuration Management.Five (5) years? recent experience since 1989 as a Configuration Management Specialist or Supervisor is required.
Experience with computer aided design and drafting (CADD) systems as they are utilized to support CM technical documentation. Knowledge of PC software applications for engineering, networking, engineering drawings and technical publications. A working knowledge of project management procedures and database management development structuring. The ability to Direct and provide guidance on Government and industry standards for format, storage and retrieval of digital data. Familiarity with Government and Industry ADPE/software procurement processes. The ability to define training requirements and to train personnel on CADD equipment. Familiarity with all aspects of technical writing; the ability to develop manuals and procedures. Knowledge of data communications and associated applications to worldwide networks. Knowledge of equipment fielding procedures and logistical support requirements. Familiarity with electronics; a minimum of two years experience related to the discipline of configuration management, of the installation, de-installation and reconfiguration of complex electronic systems and equipment. Command of fluent English, including the ability to read, write, and comprehend technical documentation, schematics, and diagrams written under the (ANSI standards.
