We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Communications Engineer in Northern VA.? Will provide technical support for acquisition and evaluation of radio software and software applications that support Software Defined Radios and Networking-based communications.? Advise the Contracting Officers Representatives on technical issues relating to Software Defined Radios (SDR) at every stage of the process.? Support maintenance, evolution, and culminate the standardization of requirements documentation for?Software Defined Radios (SDR).? Assist in strategic planning for the acquisition and development process for software defined radios and waveforms.? Provide technical expertise on emerging trends in a variety of technologies.? Evaluate submitted APIs, white papers, statements of work, coding standards, software artifacts and products for accuracy, value and reuse potential.? Perform detailed engineering analysis of all designs and operational aspects of waveform.? Evaluate test procedures and processes to certify and validate JTRS radios to the Software Communications Architectures.? Lead Integrated Product Teams, coordinate with prime contractors to maintain firm schedules for delivery of products.? Must be able to de-conflict technical issues, coordinate technical reviews, asses risk and lead and control conferences.

The candidate must have a minimum of a SECRET Clearance.? Experience in DOD acquisition procedures and DoD contracts/projects and experience in wireless communication systems is a major plus.? Eight to ten (8-10) years of experience in communication engineering is a plus.? Must be able to operate Microsoft Office programs with some degree of accuracy. ?Must have knowledge of radio basics to include a functional block diagram type understanding of radio functions.? Needs to have knowledge of various computer languages such as C++, CORBA, UML, etc.? In addition a familiarity with Object Oriented Design, Object Oriented Analysis, JTRS Software Communication Architecture would also be a major plus. ?Must be able to operate standard office and calculating equipment (adding machines).? Must be able to advise Government PM, senior civilians, senior military officers, senior acquisition team leads, senior contractor and team mates on SDR issues.? Must be able to take charge and/or chair (if required) engineering meetings. ?Candidate must hit the ground running and be able to complete tasks with very little guidance from supervisor.? Candidate must be willing to be flexible, have good people skills and have excellent oral and written skills.? Must be a self started with a can do attitude.
