Title: Software Operations Engineer, Grants Management System

 

Summary:  

The Information Technology?Systems Development & Support Group (SDS) at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation develops and supports the business systems used by foundation employees to manage grants and conduct day-to-day business activities.

 

The Software Operations Engineer (SOE) for Grants Management Systems (SOE?GMS) will work with the Operations Supervisor and focus on providing operational support for existing and emerging Grants Management business systems.  Typical day-to-day activities include tier-three technical support, customer needs, and vendor task coordination.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

?  Resolve technical issues as the tier-three support engineer for a category of business systems known as Grants Management Systems (GrantView, Gifts, etc.).

 

?  Triage business system bugs & issues and assist with the maintenance of core business system functionality

 

?  Provide 24/7 business system support with limited on-call responsibilities

 

?  Assist with the implementation of system patches and upgrades

 

?  Collaborate with team members to maintain core business system functionality and uptime

 

?  Assist with activities that include system deployment, product demonstrations, and issue resolution support

 

?  Write and maintain support documentation along with other materials 

 

Qualifications:

Minimum three years experience in a  technical support role in an information technology related group, focusing on internal business systems support Experience with change management process, proven ability to support multiple business systems and multi tasking Strong .Net, VB, VB Script, ASP, and XML skills SQL Query experience, understanding of relational databases and familiarity with table structures preferred Strong troubleshooting skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent follow-through and attention to detail. Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making ability. Good task management and organizational skills

?  Bachelor?s degree in computer science or equivalent experience preferred
