Campaign Director

Blue Ridge Forever is an initiative to raise awareness and resources to protect the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains, spearheaded by 13 local, state and national land conservation organizations. They work with landowners and communities to safeguard Western North Carolina's scenic beauty, clean water, wildlife habitat, farmland and cultural heritage.

Job Description: The Campaign Director will lead Blue Ridge Forever Partnership?s major fundraising effort that will drive the 5-year campaign to protect 50,000 acres by 2010. The Director is responsible for managing activities related to the planning and implementation of fundraising, including foundation, corporate and individual giving, and special events. The bulk of the Director?s responsibilities will entail cultivating relationships with national foundations and major donors. She/ he will also advise Blue Ridge Forever Partners on their individual fundraising efforts.

Qualifications: Minimum seven years of clearly demonstrated success in raising funds through a variety of methods; Proven ability to personally cultivate and solicit major gifts; Experience working with capital campaigns a plus; Experience in development research, using the Internet and other current research tools; Strong communication and diplomatic skills, and the ability to work effectively with coalitions; Ability to think strategically and creatively; Ability to work without supervision in a small office setting with minimal support staff; Background in conservation desirable and a love of the mountains essential.
