Chief Development Officer

Background

Mary?s Center, located in Washington, DC, is a comprehensive, family-centered health care provider seeking to build better futures through health care, education, and social services that embrace the culturally diverse community of the Washington, DC metropolitan area.  The organization is well recognized, both locally and nationally, for demonstrating how improved access to culturally appropriate core health services and wraparound social services leads to healthy individuals and stronger families.  Founded in 1988, Mary?s Center currently serves nearly 8,500 individuals annually at its facility in Adams Morgan, having expanded numerous times to address the immigrant community?s diverse and evolving needs.

Mary?s Center has embarked upon the first phase of an aggressive growth plan.  With a generous grant from Venture Philanthropy Partners to expand the infrastructure required for growth, and the recent award of Federally Qualified Health Care Center (FQHC) status, Mary?s Center?s growth plan calls for a phased expansion to a total of four primary service locations and will also provide service through at least four school-based locations, expanding its reach across the region.  This growth plan is projected to quadruple the number of clients served by 2009, while refining and expanding the service model and increasing its advocacy efforts in order to generate broader community impact.  Mary?s Center?s fundraising consultants see significant potential for increasing the role of philanthropic giving to support the organization?s rapid growth.

Through a careful and orderly national search process, Mary?s Center is seeking a new Chief Development Officer who will provide the organization with exceptional leadership in growing the governmental and non-governmental support necessary for the success of this vision and rapid geographic growth plan.  Mary?s Center?s health care model, which supports vibrant and stable immigrant families and communities for the next generation, can provide a national model to communities across the nation.
