Chief Professional Officer
Chief Professional Officer
BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS of American ? South Bay Area of Los Angeles
Opportunity
Our client, The Board of Director of the Boys & Girls Club of America, is seeking a Chief Professional Officer to strengthen and impact board development, fundraising and the quality and financial viability of our programs. Headquartered in Harbor City, California, the Club has an annual operating budget of $600,000 and serves over 1,210 youth in multiple sites.
Company
There's no secret handshake - or specific gender - required to get into this club, only the desire to have fun! Since 1860, The Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) has been providing a safe and supervised environment for children by developing recreational activities and programs that are centered on building character development, and life skills, among other things. With over a 2004 reporting of 174.1 million in sales, 3,700 locations, 44,000 employees and serving some 4.4 million children nationwide, BGCA?s continued mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
Position
The Chief Professional Officer, under the direction of the Board, you will provide leadership and management of a growing club consisting of 3 sites with the goal of growth for 2007. In this position, you will drive and develop marketing efforts that result in an increase in fund revenue to include donor cultivation and solicitation, foundation and corporate relations, major gifts and special events. As the ambassador of the organization, you will be a true relationship builder both internally and externally that is capable of sustaining the engagement of active major donors and garnering new and consistent long-term sources of donation revenues. In addition, you will partner with the Board to develop and implement strategic growth and operational plans that result in Club performance and board development. You will also implement a continuing process improvement plan that will sharpen financial projections, improve day to day operations, establish policies and procedures that ensure appropriate controls, solid stewardship and compliance with all government and state regulations. As a strong leader, you will manage and develop staff and monitor youth programs.
Requirements
The successful candidate will possess at least 5 years of related experience and a Bachelor?s degree in administration, management, or a related field. Masters Degree preferred. This position requires a highly motivated individual with strong communication, leadership, interpersonal and innovative fundraising efforts within a complex, broad-based non-profit or advocacy organization with the proven ability to cultivate, solicit and steward major gifts. Experience in program development and board relations is also required.
