Church Relations Director

Resumes are being considered for a Director Church Relations based in Chicago.  We are a faith-based not-for-profit dealing in the Evangelical Spanish speaking community in the U.S., Mexico and South America. In this exciting role of Director Church Relations you will bring your knowledge and experience working with church leaders and organizations to oversee the church relations, field representatives and staff to identify and cultivate church and denominational relationships to strengthen church ties and achieve our mission.  The director is responsible for soliciting financial support and endorsements, providing educational programs, providing speakers and enlisting participation in organization sponsered activities.  The Director Church Relations will work closely with the communication and marketing division to improve the organization?s relationship with the church community and to identify strategic marketing opportunities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

?  Oversees:

o Church relations representatives and staff to ensure that financial goals and other objectives are met

o Field reprentative fundraising activities and is personally responsible for fundraising with a designated portfolio of churches and as requested with other major donors

o scheduling and representation of the organization at church and denominational conferences

?  Manages the goal-setting and activities of any field staff hired for church cultivation, ensuring messaging is consistent, and activities are both strategic and measurable and provides weekly report on activity of reps which measures their performance and fundraising efforts

?  Cultivates, establishes and enhances relationships with denominations, churches and pastors via letter, telephone and internet for the purpose of securing endorsements and financial support for the organization?s work

?  Regularly communicates with the president to identify potential speaking and conference venues in which to participate

?  Works with communications and marketing division to develop educational and programing materials for churches and to effectively market them

?  Schedules speaking engagements at high donor churches and meetings with influential denominational leaders for the purpose of maintaining current giving and to bring donors to a higher level of giving

?  Ensures that the church data base and giving records are maintained accurately

?  Acts as liaison between the organization and churches at organization sponsored events

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 ?  Bachelor?s degree

?  Ordination or ministerial credentials

?  Master?s or seminary degree

?  Experience preaching in churches

?  Valid driver?s license

 

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

?  Proven experience in working with church leaders and organizations

?  Previously worked on a church staff or for a para-church organization

 

CRITICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

?  Knowledge of the American Church (leaders, organizations) and the ability to communicate effectively with church leaders

?  Knowledge of Scriptures and able to relate to different Christian traditions

?  Ability to communicate effectively to large and small audiences

?  Detail oriented with the ability to manage a comprehensive record-keeping system and office procedures for the department

?  Maintains a high level of energy and a consistent positive attitude

?  Experience with Microsoft Office applications and internet usage

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequent day and overnight travel by air and automobile is required for meetings, conferences and speaking in churches.
