Position Title:    Community Membership Specialist

Reports to: Membership Marketing Manager

 

Purpose of Position:

The Community Membership Specialist is responsible for implementing recruitment, retention and development processes through various membership and program participation initiatives directed at Girl Scouts.

 

Accountabilities:

1.  Based on analysis of demographics, community needs, membership growth and girls? interests, implement girl and adult membership retention, recruitment and development strategies;

2.  Work with program staff to ensure appropriate program resources and volunteer support is in place for delivery of programming to girls;

3.  Achieve membership recruitment, retention and development goals under direction of Membership Marketing Manager;

4.  Recruit, select, place, train, supervise, and evaluate qualified program delivery volunteers to carry out program implementation;

5.  Development of girl and adult membership through program events, recruitment activities, and other outreach strategies;

6.  Report regularly on progress and completion of work and revise strategies as directed;

7.  Ensure availability of supporting program on a timely basis, and secures and manages a strong volunteer corps necessary to serve girls;

8.  Contribute toward the effectiveness of the Council AA/EEO guidelines by ensuring that recruitment efforts reach out to all racial/ethnic groups and provide equal access;  exhibit knowledge and understanding of affirmative action and non-discriminatory attitude in all internal and external working relationships;

9.  Knowledge of GSUSA handbooks, guidelines, Safety-Wise, ACA standards, Texas Health Department regulations and Council policies, as well as Girl Scout Mission and Council Plan of Work;

10. Develop and implement strong human relations and communications skills to market program activities to girls, volunteers, employed staff; and the community, while cultivating the interest and support of key community leaders, institutions, and business organizations;

11. Perform Special Assignments as delegated by Membership Marketing Manager.

 

Qualifications:

1.  Bachelor?s degree in related field or equivalent knowledge and experience in management and working with girls and adults.

2.  Commitment to the aims and purposes of the Girl Scout movement

3.  Excellent oral and written communications skills.

4.  Ability to work with volunteers and community contacts from diverse backgrounds and to build effective volunteer leadership teams.

5.  Ability to organize work priorities, information and people to effectively carry out the work of program and volunteer development and implementation.

6.  Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and produce results.

7.  Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

8.  Excellent computer skills especially Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.

9.  Must have access to car in working order and the ability to travel; proof of meeting Texas state requirements regarding vehicle registration and inspection, driver?s licensing and liability insurance.
