Development Director
Founded in 2000, Matthew?s Center is a small private non-profit organization providing services for children with autism and related disabilities. Our program is tailored to each child based on their individual strengths and needs with a focus on functional communication and positive behavioral support to promote the highest level of independence possible for the child at school, home, and in the community. Our organization includes a day school, in-home services, and an after school program.
We are looking for a full-time Development Director to plan, manage, and implement a diversified development program to meet the needs of the operating budget and capital improvements. Specific responsibilities include:
In collaboration with the Executive Director and board, prioritize fundraising goals and develop strategies and tactics to meet those goals. Identify, develop and maintain close working relationships with philanthropic, corporate, and government donors and sponsors. Plan and implement special events that directly relate to fundraising and cultivation objectives and coordinate logistics for third-party special events benefiting the organization. Conceive and draft all fundraising material and correspondence. Develop and write grant proposals, letters of inquiry, concept papers, and program reports under strict deadlines, following generally accepted development procedures and/or specific grant maker guidelines. Establish and manage systems and processes for prospect research, donor cultivation and information tracking. Compile and maintain complete auditable documents and records regarding all donated funds and appropriately manage donor, member and other contact databases. Recommend and draft development policies for approval by Executive Director and board regarding gift acceptance, use of windfall funds (such as bequests), gifts in kind, endowment, etc.
Bachelor?s degree in related discipline. Equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible nonprofit development experience including but not limited to grant writing, event management, individual donor, and communications/marketing experience. Experience in special education or related fields preferred. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) a plus.
