Development Director (Non-Profit Organization)
OVERVIEW: The Development Director oversees comprehensive fundraising efforts to support our goal of developing educational and social programs to enrich the lives of at-risk youth. Position includes grant writing, corporate and individual giving, direct mail, publications and events. The Development Director should be an entrepreneurial-minded individual who works exceptionally well alongside directors and management to insure efficiency and effectiveness in meeting Unity Care?s organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced Degree preferredMinimum 7-10 years of experienceThorough understanding of Social Service and/or Foster Care industryExtensive experience and increasing responsibility in fundraising, with demonstrated success in prospecting, cultivating, asking and closing corporate, foundation, workplace, individual, major gifts and new business revenue.Experience working with fundraising volunteers and in developing solicitation strategies that incorporate a multi-faceted approach to fund-raising that works effectively toward clear objectives.Creative self-starter who enjoys working with a diverse workforceProven track record of improving operational performancePeople person who is outcomes focused and detail orientedExcellent written and verbal communication skills: an attentive listener, articulate speaker and clear and persuasive writer in order to meet the needs of various audiences. Strong interpersonal skills commensurate with the need to work closely with board members, major individual donors and prospects, staff, management team and directors. Financial management and analytical skills a must.Excellent planning and organizational skills. Strong leadership, mentoring, talent development and motivational skills. Strong work ethic, unquestioned reputation for honesty and integrity.Strategic re-sourcing abilities. Ability to problem solve independently and with others. Advanced computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, PowerPoint). Effectively work independently as well as with others.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Establish fund-raising goals and objectives each year and be accountable for ensuring that set goals and objectives are met.Manage and solicit a group of major gifts, prospects, and coordinate the personal cultivation and solicitation of prospects select volunteers.Assist in developing Unity Care?s product marketing strategy, including donor surveys, feasibility studies, linking product to fundraising strategies and the development of cases for support.
Create fundraising strategy to wrap around all appropriate events, communications and recognition of donors and prospects to maintain and build the image of Unity Care Group.Serve as the liaison with the Finance department, and the Board of Directors, providing quarterly reports of fundraising progress.Be an exceptional communicator and an articulate-, passionate and credible public presence for Unity Care Group, and an effective, strong, inspirational and focused leader within the community.
