Development Manager
The Yerwood Center is a non-profit community center located in Stamford, CT. It provides educational and personal development programs for inner city youth and adults. Major programs include after school programs for K-12th grade students, summer camp, job training for adults, computer literacy training and general recreational programs. The Center is hiring a Development Director to lead fund raising activity, manage and write grant applications, and be a spokesperson for the organization.
Job Purpose:
Obtains funds by promoting the organization's interests and benefits to donors.
Duties:
* Establishes fund development goals by studying organization objectives and needs; advising the board of directors.
* Guides fund development efforts by formulating fund development strategy and plans
* Identifies potential supporters by examining past records; researching support given to other organizations; identifying grant agencies and foundations; establishing personal networks.
* Prepares promotional literature and presentations by composing copy; designing layout; obtaining graphic arts advice; contracting with printers and media services.
* Solicits funds and pledges by completing grant applications; answering inquiries; mailing literature; assigning responsibility for personal solicitation to board members, volunteers, and staff members; making personal visits, speeches, and promotions.
* Organizes special campaigns by setting objectives; targeting supporters; developing approaches; making solicitations.
* Organizes special events by identifying potential guests; developing announcements and invitations; making and coordinating arrangements; supervising activities.
* Obtains help to accomplish objectives by recruiting, scheduling, training, and supervising volunteers.
* Prepares fund development reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Uses GiftWorks software to manage donor information.
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
