Development Manager, Prospect Research

This position is responsible for managing a comprehensive prospect management and research program, including developing and implementing policies and processes to track the identification, cultivation and solicitation status of individual, corporate, and foundation gift prospects; employing prospect identification methods; and managing the research, analysis and reporting of relevant financial and biographical information. This position will participate in strategy sessions with members of the giving team and assist them in developing specific cultivation and solicitation strategies for donor prospects as a part of the prospect management system. This position also will supervise a team of two to four direct reports.

This position requires an experienced research professional who possesses a clear understanding of the fundamentals of fundraising and how research integrates into and supports fundraising initiatives. Following are the job requirements:
? Bachelor?s degree, and minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in development research and prospect management are required; equivalent amount education and experience may be considered.
? Experience in higher education or healthcare fundraising preferred.
? Experience using Raiser?s Edge or similar donor database is required.
? Ability to develop, plan, implement and evaluate research strategies and integrate them into fundraising plans.
? Strong leadership, supervisory, management and organizational skills.
? Excellent analytical skills and ability to locate and interpret financial and biographical information from a variety of sources are essential.
? Ability to handle sensitive and confidential material in a responsible manner.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to write concise research documents with attention to detail and accuracy.
