SUMMARY
The editor will need to combine the skills of an experienced writer/editor with the organization and skills of an experienced project manager to create effective, targeted content and deliver it with the clarity and sophistication representative of Stephen S. Wise Temple. Candidates should be extremely organized, motivated individuals with great communication skills and the ability to function successfully in a large, dynamic non-profit organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Produce, edit, assist with editing and publishing stories for online use
? Keep pace with all site-wide editorial guidelines and policies, and communicate these to stakeholders proactively
? Assist with editorial and production of material for print and online
? Strategic evaluation of content requests, to define goals, refine project plans and set specific deliverables & timelines
? Build and maintain lasting stakeholder relationships to ensure alignment with overall vision and messaging
? Assist with content planning
? Act as the primary content contact for monthly print publication
? Post content to our website in our content management system.
? Categorize and prioritize news stories
? Contribute to the growth and development of the new and improved website
? Other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications
QUALIFICATIONS 2+ years experience as an copywriter, editor/content coordinator for either print or web Experience working with Web-based portals or Content Management Systems in an editorial capacity Exemplary written and verbal communication skills Effective time and task management skills to drive and complete multiple tasks in a high-through-put environment Exhibits diplomacy and grace under pressureOutstanding interpersonal skillsRudimentary knowledge of Jewish customs & ceremoniesProficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and FileMaker ProSome knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Quark Express, or HTMLIntermediate graphic design and layout skills Excellent editing & writing skillsPleasant speaking voice with excellent phone skillsWorks well in a busy, team environment
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
? BA in Journalism or English preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
? Must be able to speak and write in grammatically correct English
? Knowledge of Hebrew, Spanish or Farsi is a plus.
