JOB DESCRIPTION
GIRL LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE LEARNING SPECIALIST
SUPERVISOR: Girl Leadership and Service Learning Director
PURPOSE:Assure the delivery of an array of services, events, leadership programs
and opportunities for girls age 5 to 17
To assure maximum achievement of program outcomes for girls.
SALARY RANGE: Grade 5
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Actively supports and promotes the Council's and GSUSA's affirmative action plans and their commitment to diversity throughout the organization.
2. Actively supports and promotes all efforts to increase cooperation, communication and collaboration between and among staff members, volunteers and girls.
3. Understands and internalizes the importance of seeking resolution to problems and concerns by bringing them to the direct attention of her/his supervisor in a timely manner.
4. Demonstrates and promotes a climate of courtesy and professionalism to co-workers, the volunteers served by this Council and others with whom her/his job puts her/him in contact.
5. Ensures that materials prepared and produced for Gateway Council's internal and external publics reflect the highest standards of excellence.
6. Consistently seeks to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of all Council operations by demonstrating positive and creative approaches to the delivery of service.
7. Demonstrates sound time management skills by effectively and efficiently organizing, prioritizing and completing multiple assignments in a timely manner.
8. Maintains strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Recruit, train, supervise, support and retain volunteers to implement services, events, leadership programs and service opportunities that are mission-based and responsive to the expressed needs of girls. Strengthens the diversity of the membership by assuring access and participation of girls and adults from all racial, ethnic, socio-economic groups and geographic areas.
2. Design, develop and provide resources to assist adult volunteers in the delivery of opportunities for girls to discover, lead and take action.
3. Promotes and implements efforts to achieve maximum program outcomes for girls.
4. Participates in and supports efforts to engage girls in design, coordination and leadership of service opportunities, events, and leadership development initiatives.
5. Participates in and supports management of processes to assist girls in attaining age appropriate leadership recognitions.
6. Develops collaborative relationships with community agencies and groups to extend the variety of experiences for girls.
7. Supports fund development initiatives in partnership with fund development staff.
8. Completes other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A passionate commitment to girls and to creating an environment where they can develop strong values, social conscience, self-esteem and conviction about their own potential and self worth.
A bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience. Strong communication skills. Ability to supervise, develop and motivate volunteers. Ability to work well under pressure and skill in conflict resolution. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work both independently and as a team member. Demonstrated commitment to internal and external customer service.
Must be willing to become a member of GSUSA. Schedule includes evening and
weekend hours. Reliable transportation is required, as well as a willingness to travel
throughout the Council's jurisdiction.
Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
