Grants & Publications Coordinator
The Petersen Automotive Museum (www.petersen.org) is seeking a goal-oriented ?people person? who will serve as the primary liaison to Museum members and the public on issues relating to membership sales, services and benefits. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, multicultural, nonprofit setting. Sales ability, follow-through, and attention to detail essential. Growth opportunity for individual with one to two years of membership experience.
Position Summary:
The Grants & Publications Coordinator supports the Museum with foundation fundraising activities and Development Department publications coordination. The coordinator is directly responsible for implementing all aspects of a successful foundation fundraising program, and is integral to reaching financial income targets through grant proposals. This position functions as a necessary and contributing member of the Development staff.
Essential Functions:
? Primary liaison to the foundation and corporate giving community
? Research and develop foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities through the Internet and directories, and by contacting potential funders
? Maintain and organize a grants calendar to track relevant dates for contacting foundations, and submitting grants and follow-up reports
? Research, write, edit, and submit a pre-assigned number of grant proposals on a monthly basis, as well as letters of inquiry
? Support other Museum departments and staff in preparing grants and/or proposals
? Work in concert with Director of Development to develop long range plans to maximize foundation support and set revenue goals
? On an ongoing basis analyze trends in foundation giving and grant application procedures to ensure that the Museum maintains a competitive advantage in seeking grant funding
? Coordinate the publication of the Petersen Quarterly, including but not limited to soliciting and editing articles
? Coordinate advertising sales in Museum publications and website.
? Create database and financial reports to track foundation giving
? Prepare, maintain, and update standard proposal attachments
? Create and draft development-related materials, including but not limited to appeals, annual reports, information for website, and press releases
? Support department head with budget preparation and maintenance on issues relating to foundation giving and Development Department communications
? Coordinate foundation donor recognition and acknowledgements
Other Related Responsibilities:
? Attend Exhibits and Education Department meetings
? Perform other work-related duties as assigned
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
? Ability to work independently, and with a close attention to detail
? Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
? Superb writing and verbal communication skills
? One-two years related experience in a nonprofit or museum environment
? Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
? Good organizational skills ? able to organize and implement multiple complex tasks simultaneously
? Good people skills ? able to work with donors and staff professionally and tactfully
? Sales ability
? Team player who can smoothly manage interoffice activity and work well under deadlines
