Internal Auditor

Basic Function :   Conducts financial and operational audits of assigned Affiliates.  Assists in the financial and operational audit of headquarter operations.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Reviews the financial statements for assigned group of Affiliates to include:  examination of interim reports; analysis of operational and financial issues; and assessment of degree of compliance with national policies, practices, and guidelines.

 

Reviews minutes of Affiliate Board to identify issues requiring financial expertise or identify opportunities to create new volunteer leadership and financial team partnerships.

 

Reviews Affiliate purchases, bidding processes, potential for conflicts of interest, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with Foundation operating policy.

 

Visits Affiliate sites to conduct audits and perform tests to ensure financial controls are in place to protect the assets and operation of the Affiliate and the Foundation. 

 

Provides written audit reports to the Affiliate Treasurers, Race Chairs, Presidents, Grant Chairs, Merchandising Chair, and other members of the Affiliate leadership team to improve the overall financial and operating practices of the Affiliate.

 

Identifies training needs and develops applicable tools for inclusion in the Treasurer's Manual and/or Regional Training materials.  May assist in development of materials and/or delivery of trainings.

 

Prepares audit reports for review by management documenting level of compliance, fund balance of the Affiliate, operating issues/concerns, program issues requiring attention and conflict of interest exposure(s).

 

Provides assistance to the Accounting/Finance function in terms of the year-end review process for Affiliates and the process for Affiliate reporting.
