Manager, Special Events

Position Summary: To successfully implement a special event action plan that will include Relay for Life, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and other fund raising activities.  You will be responsible for integrating and coordinating division-wide efforts to mobilize volunteers and communities, participate in the Eastern Division's special event and vital outreach activities, serve as an expert resource for motivating staff and volunteers and establish a team atmosphere conducive to sharing our "best practices" and other resources as appropriate, and provide leadership and coach others in support of our mission, goals and strategic outcome.

 

Essential Functions:

* Secure sponsorship and underwriting

* Work as a team player

* Think outside of the box

* Some evenings and weekend meetings

* Perform other duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements:

* Proven successful fund raising or sales exp.  preferred

* Excellent communication & interpersonal skills

* Demonstrate organizational skills and time management

* Computer literate

* Knowledge of Queens

* Commitment to mission and goals of the American Cancer Society
