UJA-Federation cares for those in need, rescues those in harm?s way, and renews and strengthens the Jewish people in New York, in Israel, and around the world.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Seeking an experienced manager and fundraiser to manage all aspects of the Manhattan Upper West Side and Downtown Campaign, with responsibility for building and expanding UJA?s presence in these key geographic areas with high level and high potential donors and prospects. Will be responsible for strategic planning and developing and implementing new initiatives with the goal of deepening donor involvement and commitment, engaging new donors, and increasing the success of our campaign in these communities. Will supervise a team of professionals and will work closely with other Manhattan Campaign Managers to collaborate on creating overall high status Manhattan campaign.
Job Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be:
- A critical thinker who will be able to develop a campaign business plan that will spell out strategies to grow these key geographic areas and establish measurable goals.
- An excellent relationship-builder who will identify, cultivate and solicit donors and high level prospects for the annual campaign as well as for endowment, capital and special gifts campaigns.
- Able to create and implement in-depth engagement plans for a targeted group of high potential donors.
- An excellent supervisor who will manage a number of professionals to grow their individual portfolios and to work as a team to identify ways to deepen donor engagement and giving.
- A committed team player who will work with other Manhattan Campaign Managers to determine the most effective means to engage individuals, couples, and families throughout Manhattan, create overall signature events where appropriate; and develop a team of high level lay leaders to represent the Manhattan Campaign.
- A motivator who can inspire and empower targeted donors by providing them with the tools and resources to create exciting and innovative programs that energize, engage and secure financial commitments from them and others. Also will encourage lay participation to become volunteer engagers and solicitors.
- A detail-oriented person who will create appropriate monitoring and tracking systems to evaluate goals and to ensure follow up.
- Committed to ensuring donors? needs are met at the highest level of service.
- Passionate about the mission and work of UJA-Federation of New York and able to educate others through face-to-face cultivation; site visits to agencies; leadership development training, and hands-on and volunteer opportunities.
Competencies/Skills/Education:
Graduate Level Degree preferred and a minimum of 3-5 years of previous fundraising or non-profit work experience. Possession of formal/informal Jewish education background a plus.
Other competencies required include:
- Background and experience in management and supervision
- Proven fundraising experience, including major gifts and face-to-face solicitations
- Critical thinker ? able to evaluate and develop initiatives to maximize donor engagement
- Creative, resourceful, entrepreneurial, self-motivated, flexible, enthusiastic
- Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills
- Strong team-oriented philosophy/approach
- Strong organizational skills
- Outstanding writing and presentation skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Detail- and systems-oriented
- Capacity to juggle multiple priorities
- Proficient in use of computers (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Knowledgeable about the organized Jewish community and its institutions and passionate about the issues facing the community
