  Planning Manager

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer  FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Job Summary: Manages the purchasing and production planning function for Alphapointe. Develops and maintains relations with vendors for raw materials. Develops schedules that establish sequence and  timeframe of manufacturing operations in order to meet production requirements.

 

 

Essential Functions

?  Plans, develops, recommends, negotiates, and administers purchasing contracts and proposals. Evaluates and awards bids and proposals. Drafts bid specifications. Requests bid proposals from vendors and administers contracts for major purchases.

?  Researches product market information relating to raw material, equipment and supply purchases.

?  Expedites purchase orders by identifying and resolving vendor or shipment problems.

?  Ensures that purchasing business practices are compatible with state and federal laws.

?  Plans and coordinates all production planning in a manufacturing environment.

?  Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies and objectives, both short-term and long-term. Develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.

?  Develops annual operating budgets and provides fiscal direction for the department.  Prepares budget estimates and monitors departmental expenditures.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

?  BA Degree in business or other related field.

?  Knowledge of standard products and sources of supply for raw material procurement. Comprehensive knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices.

?  Ability to effectively negotiate with vendors, contractors, etc. to obtain the most cost effective prices and contract terms for goods and services purchased by Alphapointe.

?  Knowledge of effective methods of organizing and implementing a procurement and supply inventory program.

?  Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.

?  Through knowledge of and experience with Material Resource Planning (MRP) and master scheduling programs.

?  Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

?  Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long-range goals.

?  Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimation, and fiscal management principles and procedures.

?  Ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects.

?  Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

?  Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.

?  Previous supervisory experience preferred.

?  Ability to work independently and with teams.
