Special Events Manager

The Petersen Automotive Museum currently seeks an enthusiastic Special Events Manager to handle all aspects of special event activities within the museum which include corporate functions, private parties, fundraisers and filming. 

 

The Petersen Automotive Museum, a 501(c)(3) organization located in the heart of Los Angeles? famed Miracle Mile district is one of the world's largest and most innovative automotive museums.  Three floors of automotive history take the Museum visitor through time and trace the development of the automobile and its influence on the culture of Los Angeles. 

 

The duties and responsibilities include the following:

 

?  Oversee all outside and on-site sales efforts, interfacing with potential clients, caterers and event planners via community outreach, on-site meetings, telephone and mailings.

?  Implement marketing plan and creation of sales materials.

?  Oversee and manage all budget and finance matters including invoices and deposits; negotiate contracts and fees.

?  Schedule museum staff required for each event and supervise all event personnel and equipment set-ups during events.

?  Coordinate set-up requirements and delivery schedules with all vendors.

?  Schedule and implement on-site inspections, as well as create and distribute all work orders to museum staff.

?  Supervise events from start to finish.

 

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

 

?  Bachelor?s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Hotel Management or equivalent education or experience preferred.

?  3-5 years Public Relations, Marketing, Sales, Event Planning experience.

?  Excellent communication and organizational skills.

?  Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

?  Prior supervisory experience helpful.

 

Other:

?  Full-time, hours which occasionally include evening or weekend duty.

?  Salary plus bonus.

?  Manages a department of 3 employees.
