AIDS Healthcare Foundation is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to work out of our Administrative Office in Los Angeles, California. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benfits package.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Participates as a member of a team in the month-end close to assure timely and accurate reporting. Assists the Accounting Manager/Controller/Associate Chief of Finance with the accounting entries and other related tasks.
- Assures the accuracy and timely reporting of accounting data and financial analysis.
- Supports the processes that assist managers in making strategic and operational databased decisions by delivering timely, accurate and relevant financial information.
- Provides assistance to the CFO, Associate Chief of Finance and Controller as requested.
Responsibilities
- Accounting Responsibilities Duties may include:
1. Review, analysis and verification of various business transactions including all revenues, expenses, and accruals;
2. Preparation of journal entries;
3. Review monthly general ledger for accuracy with and provide periodic updates, variance analysis and performance reports to Controller, Associate Chief of Finance and CFO;
4. Provide support to Controller and Associate Chief of Finance with Annual Financial Audits, Contract Audits, and any additional audits as necessary.
- Perform constant monitoring of financial and accounting requests and submissions to assure compliance with policy. Review expense reporting including credit card and expense report reconciliations for accuracy and compliance with policy.
- Will perform a wide variety of special projects and data gathering functions as well as developing reports as necessary.
- Prepare specialized reports, analysis and financial models; present results of analysis.
- Review month-end financial reports, construct financial statements, provide variance analysis, research financial irregularities, and use the analysis to develop meaningful financial reporting.
- Coordinate and develop ad hoc analysis as required.
- Provide support to other Finance Department staff, as required.
- Cross-train on Fixed Assets, Bank Reconciliations and other accounting functions.
Participation in AHF Meetings/Committees
Attends AHF Meetings as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor?s degree (B.A.) in Accounting from four-year college or university and two to five years related experience, preferably in an international non-profit and health care, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer/Software Skills & Abilities
To perform this job successfully, and individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access software. Knowledge of managed care software helpful.
Language Skills
Fluency in another language, preferably one where AHF operates, is preferred. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to compose letters, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Very High Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability
Very High Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Other Skills & Abilities/Qualifications
Knowledge of managed care (HMO) financing concepts, health care market place, and health delivery systems. Strong quantitative and analytical skills and ability to meet critical deadlines.
Ability to handle multiple tasks including project management and quantitative analysis. Must be able to work independently. Must have strong organizational skills.
