Stewardship Manager

Summary:

The Stewardship Manager is responsible for the management of a comprehensive and systematic institution-wide program for acknowledgement, recognition, and strategic engagement of philanthropic donors to the American Red Cross, in an effort to increase donor support for National Headquarters and chapter initiatives. This position works closely and collaboratively with the front-line fundraising officers in Strategic Fundraising and Disaster Fundraising, and with staff in Communications and Marketing, and the President?s Office.

Responsibilities:

The Stewardship Manager will oversee development writing, including leadership gift acknowledgements, stewardship reports, case statements, and other materials to support the relationship of the donor with the American Red Cross. In this role, the manager will oversee national level or system-wide recognition and stewardship programs for the American Red Cross, including any donor honor rolls, commemorative materials, thank you advertisements, gift recognition events, thank you calls and/or discovery visits. Work closely and collaboratively with the Communications and Marketing department to provide strategic and clear communication with donors through print and electronic media. Plan and maintain annual calendar of stewardship events and activities. Provide plan for deadlines, benchmarks, accountability, budget and resources, working closely with Disaster Fundraising and Strategic Fundraising. Lead assessment of existing practices and programs and oversee development and implementation of new programs to enhance a donor-centered fundraising approach.

Qualifications:

Bachelor?s degree and a?minimum of 7-10 years related fundraising experience required with 3-5 years in a supervisory role with an expertise in relationship building and strong customer service orientation. Extensive knowledge of fundraising principles and techniques in a large organization. Business management skills to include budgeting and financial management, human resources management, project and program development. Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills required. Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Knowledge of computer data management systems and their applications for fund raising required, as well as strong assessment skills. Some travel required up to 25%.
