AN (Ammonium Nitrate) Materials Manager – Operations

JOB PURPOSE:   Provide operations analytical and decision support to overall planning, coordination and controlling functions of the AN sourcing and supply chain activities. Maintain and further develop contract compliance and performance systems specific to North American AN purchase-for-resale, tolling and exchange agreements. Provide operational interface and essential AN supply communication with internal and external business partners.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

Safety, Health & Environment

?  Support company-wide Deliver the Promise Goal of Safety, Health & Environment.

?  Work in a safe manner and maintain cleanliness of workspace.

?  Full environmental compliance.

?  Immediately report any accidents, injuries or incidents.

 

Operations Management

?  Monitor and administer compliance against contract commitment of various AN sourcing agreements.

?  Weekly and on-demand forecasts of production, consumption, shipments and inventory. 

?  Develop, recommend, and implement intra-month changes to AN sourcing and distribution plans.

?  Responsible for dynamic day-to-day fleet placement to enable product supply and cost-effective fleet utilization.

?  Allocate shipments when necessary, monitor safety stock inventories, order required quantities of AN.

?  Monitor and pro-actively prevent AN security issues. Gauges actual cost-to-serve information.

?  Contributes to routine regional demand and supply level sales and operations planning activities.

?  Evaluate product specifications and product quality to set standards. Monitor and account for product returns. 

 

Communication

?  Implement monthly AN supply plans, including communication to customers and business units.

?  Maintain PQC product complaint database and communicate with manufacturing, field, and customers to ensure timely resolution. Provide analytical and decision support to product groups and business unites for AN related projects.

?  Maintain operation of several computer systems including the North American AN product balance system and the linear program AN delivered cost minimization system.

?  Develop network of contacts through which to source intelligence that enables maintenance of customer, supplier, and competitive information regarding AN.

?  Provide timely and accurate reports and notification of actual or forecast variations.

?  Handle variety of daily AN distribution issues with internal and external contacts.

 

 

Planning and Financial Analysis

?  Provide input into short and medium term planning activities of AN marketing, sourcing and logistics functions. 

 

 

Industry Knowledge

?  Develop network of contacts through which to source intelligence that enables maintenance of customer, supplier, and competitive information regarding AN.

 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

?  Minimum BS/BA, preferably MBA degree.

?  Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite along with packaged software systems for quantitative analysis and forecasting.  Knowledge of SAP helpful.

?  Basic understanding of nitrogen based chemicals and explosive industries, their products and processes.

?  Prior professional work experience in marketing, purchasing, or supply chain functions.

?  Highly organized, very attentive to detail, strong time management, tolerant of ambiguity, working with minimal direct supervision.

?  Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as understanding of accounting / financial concepts.

?  Ability to exercising sound business judgment and independent decision making in a relatively unstructured work environment.

?  Travel up to 30% of time.
