Assistant General Manager (#3240)

JOB SUMMARY:

Assist the General Manager in overseeing the day-to-day activities of the salon staff, following company policies and guidelines. Hire, train, develop and motivate employees within the housekeeping, facial and body, and programming departments.  Review and prepare payroll information and fax time sheets to Home Office for processing. Respond to (internal) payroll-related questions and act as liaison between employees and Payroll department. Distribute benefits materials and forward completed forms to Benefits department.  Document work-related injuries and report to insurance carrier within required deadline.  Maintain customer liability incident reports.  Review and coordinate staff schedules and time off requests to ensure adequate coverage.  Conduct sales audits, monitor sales data, and prepare bank deposits. Assist with preparing associate performance reviews. Perform administrative functions and complete management reports timely and accurately.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

? Assist in managing the day-to-day activities of the spa to ensure all operations run smoothly and efficiently.

? Recruit, train and promote qualified employees to staff all positions at the salon.

? Effectively communicate job responsibilities, performance expectations, customer service standards, and company

  policies/guidelines.

? Maintain a positive employee relations climate, responding to employee-related issues promptly, fairly and consistently.

? Perform opening and closing duties as needed, following established procedures.

? Provide input in the preparation of effective performance reviews for various staff members.

? Review and prepare weekly work schedules and approve service schedule changes and requests for time off to ensure

 adequate coverage.

? Develop and motivate staff, maintain cooperation/teamwork within the department, delegate tasks productively.

? Review payroll information and forward to Payroll department for processing. 

? Handle internal payroll-related questions and act as liaison between employees and Payroll department.

? Maintain files of worker?s compensation injury reports and customer liability incidents.

? Conduct sales audits, monitor sales data, and prepare bank deposits. 

? Oversee salon standards, conduct daily walk-through and initiate maintenance/repairs as needed.

? Monitor inventory to ensure adequate stock level. 

? Initiate orders for housekeeping supplies and collateral materials and approve orders for facial supplies.

? Train, develop and motivate the ?Assistant? program director to prepare for growth into management position.

? Assist in coordinating promotional events and training sessions.

? Perform various administrative functions and complete management reports accurately and timely.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

? 2+ years management experience in a fast-paced spa/salon, beauty or service environment.

? College-level or business-related course work.

? Highly motivated self-starter, able to work independently with little or no direction. 

? Proven analytical and decision-making skills, able to handle critical situations utilizing good judgment.

? Team player with strong leadership and supervisory skills, to effectively work with and manage
diverse personalities.

? Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.

? Detail-oriented with strong organizational and administrative skills.

? Retail and product knowledge, with experience in developing promotional strategies.

? Time management skills, with ability to handle multiple priorities and constant deadlines. 

? Flexible and available to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
