Business Operations Manager

C.J. Thomas Company, Inc., a prestigious downtown St. Louis insurance brokerage agency, is searching for aBusiness Operations Manager to join its management team. Key job functions will include the following:

 Provide leadership and guidance to Agency Directors regarding key operational issues. Develop operational strategic plan based on Agency objectives.  Provide specific project management development and support to meet strategic goals.  Manage finance, accounting and I.T. infrastructure.  Key initiatives in this area include: Develop efficient and timely financial reporting to Directors.  Manage annual budgeting process. Oversee daily accounting work of department. Develop I.T. strategy designed to maximize system capabilities. Develop, implement, and monitor proactive errors & omissions program focused on minimizing Agency exposures. Oversee human resources and benefits program: Conduct market analysis of compensation trends to ensure Agency competitiveness. Manage annual benefits renewal process.  Provide recommendations to Directors regarding major changes. Lead and implement annual performance review program. Implement agency-wide employee relations to ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws. Oversee 401(k) administration. Coordinate selection and recruitment campaign to attract top talent. Design, implement, and monitor internal training program.Function as Agency spokesperson for major insurance company initiatives, facility and property management issues, and all other events and situations requiring Agency representation. Attend Executive Committee and Board of Directors' meetings to provide guidance and feedback regarding Agency matters.

 

We're looking for the right combination of leadership, attitude, and education to successful manage the high demands of this position.  A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in a business-focused discipline.  Familiarity with accounting methodologies, human resources management, and information technology is preferred.  Previous management experience in a professional services industry is required.  Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are a must.The ability to provide firm, consistent and empathetic leadership to a diverse group of professionals is essential.Insurance industry experience is not required, but the ability to learn is!
