Commodity Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
The Commodity Manager will lead the development and management of certain global commodity strategies designed to leverage Morse TEC / Thermal global buying power to optimize supplier performance, reduce total supply costs, and improve quality and delivery throughout the supply chain. Ensure commodity plan deliverables meet designed strategies. Negotiate key supplier contracts. Provide global leadership in the communication, implementation, coordination, and enforcement of commodity strategies.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESEstablish one or more cross-business/functional commodity team(s) and lead the team. Develop the business case for actionDevelop and execute sourcing strategies and plans to leverage global buy and optimize total supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery, and technology).Lead the negotiation and management of strategic supplier contracts; approve any changes.Communicate commodity agreements and strategies to Business Units. Communicate progress periodically.Monitor and report compliance to commodity contracts and strategy.Develop commodity targets, including cost reduction and consolidation targets.Structure on-going supplier assessment and performance review meetings, monitor effectiveness of strategy, and make changes where appropriate.Benchmark procurement processes and develop and implement best practices.Monitor supply markets and trends. Aggregate forecasts and global specifications for each assigned commodityOperates in a professional manner with the highest personal integrity and in accordance with BW Code of Conduct policies.International travel required
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in engineering or business-related program.5+ years work experience in Pruchasing / Supply Chain; automotive industry experience preferred.Competent in negotiating skills.Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills required.Strong presentation skillsMust have highly developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.Practical experience in the procurement of casting and machining processesProficient with Microsoft office products — Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.Bilingual preferred.
