Controller Trainee

Shell Pipeline Company LP and its affiliates transport over two billion barrels of crude oil and refined products annually in several states for Shell and Motiva and their customers. It owns or has partial interest in 67 products terminals, 550 storage tanks, owns and operates 5,500 miles of pipeline, and has partial ownership of 10,500 miles of pipeline.
 
Shell Pipeline Company LP is currently seeking a Controller Trainee for its Houston, Texas location.

Responsibilities:
In this position, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient remote operation of pipelines, tanks, and pumping equipment involved in the transportation of crude oil and other products. You will consistently ensure the safety of pipeline operations and prevent any environmental damage while meeting established schedules and customer needs, minimizing costs and securing product integrity.
 
Key Accountabilities Include:
- Demonstrating increased knowledge and proficiency toward complying with the requirements of the Control Center Operations Training and Qualification Program
- Ensuring safe and efficient operations of pipelines and associated components
- Preventing environmental damage by preventing releases and/or minimizing their consequences should one occur
- Meeting established delivery schedules/customer needs
- Responding to abnormal and emergency conditions by following prescribed procedures
- Securing product/crude integrity
- Dispatching personnel as necessary to respond to normal/abnormal/emergency conditions

Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, College Degree preferred. Pipeline (operations or maintenance) background preferred.
 
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to pass the COBRA (Console Operator Basic Requirements Assessment) test with a score of 70 or greater is required; a score of 75 or greater is preferred
- Ability to predict cause-and-effect relationships at the pipeline level and intervene to optimize pipeline operations
- Ability to work calmly under pressure
- Individual contributor within "team framework", with minimal budget control or influence
- Limited to required travel and expense
- Ability to prioritize demands and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Rigorously disciplined in regards to following policies, procedures and processes
- Ability to think and react calmly when working under high stress situations
- Temporary relocation to back up Control Center if needed
