We are looking for an outstanding Director of Operations in our Devens, Mass facility.

 

The Director of Operations reports to the Vice President and General Manager of the American Superconductor Wires Business Unit and will lead the  manufacturing of HTS wire based on the Company?s novel second generation manufacturing approach.  He/she will lead a highly qualified staff with responsibilities in purchasing, production control, manufacturing engineering, maintenance, manufacturing, testing and shipping.

 

The individual will work collaboratively with the Engineering and Research Organizations to completely integrate the Company?s current ?pre pilot? process into a full scale production level process that will meet customer?s technical requirements, improve product performance, and reduce costs.  He/she will also work directly with Marketing/Sales, HR, IS, Accounting, and Quality Assurance to achieve Company business objectives.  He/she will be a contributing member of the Business Unit management team and as such will help establish overall Business Unit objectives and strategies.

 

The product is a high temperature superconducting wire that is sold to OEM?s.

Requirements:

? Technical undergraduate degree

? 10+ years of production management experience

? Demonstrated leadership capabilities & personal development

? A proven record of achievement

? Expertise in Lean Manufacturing Principles

? A team player capable of working both inside and outside of the organization

? Experience in rapid growth environments desired

? Experience in evolving technologies desired

? Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and independently with individuals at various levels of the organization including the executive leadership team

? Strong communication skills; written, oral and listening skills

? Ability to think logically and strategically

? Outstanding people assessment skills
