The primary function of the group is to prepare the financial statements, including the schedule of investments, determine financial statement disclosures and work with other Fidelity divisions on the production of the annual and semi-annual shareholder reports. Currently, there are approximately 500 funds for which Fund Reporting produces annual and semi-annual shareholder reports. The Fund Reporting Group participates on all regulatory filings for the retail and institutional funds managed by Fidelity Investments. Fund Reporting works with the other Fidelity departments, the Treasurer's Office and the external auditors to collect, evaluate and process comments regarding financial statement presentation.

Fund Reporting's other responsibilities include providing financial information for inclusion in funds' prospectuses, statements of additional information (SAI) and proxies. Fund Reporting is responsible for producing several other regulatory filings including Form NQ, Form N-SAR and 24F-2 filings. Form NQ is a quarterly SEC filing that lists the fund's holdings. Form N-SAR is a SEC filing requirement that summarizes financial information about each fund at the trust level and is completed in conjunction with each fund's annual and semi-annual reporting period. The 24f-2 schedule is prepared annually to determine if a fund must register additional shares for sale as inventory is depleted. Fund Reporting contributes to the production of the prospectus by supplying historical financial information and expense information. The SAI provides further detail into the investment objectives of the fund, the historical returns of the fund, fund contracts and related parties. Fund Reporting works with Legal, FMR and the auditors to create financial information for mergers included in proxy documents and new funds included in initial prospectuses.

Along with core product work, Fund Reporting personnel have an opportunity to participate on a variety of projects and initiatives including systems development & enhancements, training, new fund launches, reviewing/updating departmental policies and researching/implementing new accounting and disclosure requirements.

Fund Reporting employs over 70 people, some of whom are in Merrimack. Several members of the department have their CPA or MBA.


 


The Fund Reporting analyst will have the following responsibilities:

Prepare annual and semi-annual shareholder reports and quarerly investment listings by analyzing the audit package information and utilizing the Fund Reporting Automation System, Portfolio Listing System and Interleaf Desktop Publishing software.
Identify, analyze, resolve and/or escalate potential fund risks using technical knowledge of accounting and financial statement disclosure requirements.
Understand and apply new disclosure requirements.
Process and evaluate comments received from internal and external parties on shareholder reports to ensure compliance with SEC and GAAP requirements in addition to internal policies and procedures.
Provide on-going communication with the Fund Reporting Reviewer on the shareholder report to ensure understanding of issues and ability to resolve problems.
Develop working relationships with business partners through frequent communication to obtain necessary information, resolve/escalate issues and ensure a smooth production process.
Prepare regulatory reports to report mutual fund data.
Provide and verify financial information for the Legal department for use in prospectuses, statements of additional information and proxies.



The successful candidate will have their BA/BS degree in either accounting, finance or business or the equivalent. Prior financial reporting or mututal fund accounting experience is strongly preferred. This position requires an in-depth technical knowledge of investments, GAAP accounting, and mutual fund regulations. The successful candidate will need strong computer, analytical, communication,organizational, time management, and people management skills. An ability to work well as a team player is essential.
