Global Supplier Quality Engineer

 

POSITION SUMMARY


Provide Supplier Quality Assurance leadership and support to the supply base for all Turbo & Emissions plants. Ensure that Supplier Quality Assurance requirements are understood and being achieved by all new and current suppliers. Provide leadership in mentoring and developing supplier partners to world-class quality. Involves business travel up to 80% of the time.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESInterfaces with Global Commodity buyers for the development and release of new global suppliers to BorgWarner according to the Commodity StrategyManages the “Approved Supplier List”Conducts supplier-on-site assessment (quality systems, part and process verifications) for new suppliers or existing supplier – new process to BorgWarnerProvides assistance to suppliers in achieving BorgWarner supplier requirements (Supplier Quality Manual communication and agreement)Conducts APQP / Technical Reviews with new suppliers or existing suppliers – new process (covering Critical Characteristics, FMEA, Control Plan, etc) prior to PPAP submission and release.Conducts “We are Ready / Run at Rate” Assessment during Initial Samples production at supplierManages the consolidated BU Supplier Performance Rating (Supplier Scorecard)Provides assistance to BorgWarner manufacturing plants and interface with Plant Quality Organization with respect to supplier quality issues (specially in case of long-term quality issues)Develops and implements latest Supplier Quality Policies & Procedures as well as educate suppliers and our internal organization (eg Supplier Manual, Supplier Scorecard, etc)Provides information and suggestions to the Quality Organization, enabling continuous systematic improvement on the Supplier Development Process and related toolsParticipates and support plants on the  “Top Worst Supplier” meetings




 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEBachelors degree in Engineering or related field, MBA preferredMinimum 5 years of work experience preferred in automotive or automotive supplier industry in field of manufacturing and quality assuranceStrong interpersonal communication skills to be able to communicate to all levels of BorgWarner and supplier organizations.In-depth understanding of TS 16949 quality systems and requirementsExcellent blueprint skillsExperience with Turbocharger components a plus
